ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the secretary cabinet along with fact fact-finding report in the case against the alleged kidnapping of former PTI leader Shireen Mazari in 2022.

The case came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on Tuesday.

The court had sought a report from the government by 11 a.m. Wednesday (today). During the hearing, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani while moving Additional Attorney General (AAG) Munawar Iqbal Duggal ordered the submission of the report by 11 a.m. otherwise action will be taken against IG and others. Justice Kayani ordered the secretary cabinet to appear in the court along with fact fact-finding report.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani also inquired about the report of the AAG and remarked that first fact-finding should have been carried out and no one knows if fact-finding was conducted at all.

He said the report was not submitted to the court and was placed directly before the cabinet. Justice Kayani then ordered the cabinet secretary to appear before the court on Wednesday along with the fact-finding report.

The prime minister has also been summoned on Wednesday, he said. Justice Kayani then remarked that a decision would be given after reviewing the report in the presence of the prime minister.

He said that the fact-finding report was not presented in court despite its repeated orders and further remarked that the work not done by the federal cabinet will now be done here in the court. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till Wednesday. Eman Mazari daughter of Shireen Mazari had filed a petition against the kidnapping of her mother.
