LAHORE:A 14-year-old boy was killed by a speeding car near RingRoadInterchange,Harbanspura, on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Rehan Sabir. Some children were playing cricket when their ball rolled on the road. The victim suddenly came to pick the ball up when a speeding car hit him, resulting in his instant death. The body was shifted to the morgue.
425 cases registered under Kite Flying Act
Lahore police registered 425 cases and arrested persons under Kite Flying Act during the current year. More than 9,000 kites and 3,800 spools of kite string were also recovered from the accused; 98 cases were registered by City Division police, 108 by Cantt, 40 by Civil Lines, 43 by Sadar, 63 by Iqbal Town and 73 cases were registered by Model Town Division police in this regard.
Man found dead in drain
A 35-year-old man was found dead in the Rohi nullah Bhubattian Chowk on Sunday. According to the eyewitnesses, a man, who seemed to be a drug addict, jumped into the Rohi Nullah. On which the rescuers rushed to the spot, carried out a search operation and fished out the body. The victim was identified as Shahbaz, son of Boota. The body was removed to the morgue.
Five die in road accidents
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,071 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, five people died, whereas 1,124 were injured. Out of these, 506 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals.
