Young pharmacists laud passage of bill
PESHAWAR: The young pharmacists have lauded Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan for his efforts to pass the Pakistan Pharmacy Act Amendment Bill in the Senate unanimously.
“Amendments in the said act was a longstanding demand of the pharmacists for which efforts were made on various occasions. However, the demand of the pharmacist community was accepted due to the personal efforts of Senator Mushtaq for which we appreciate him,” Aneesur Rehman, the secretary of Young Pharmacist Community told reporters.
The Pharmacy Act, 1967 was an outdated and five-decade-old law, which required fundamental and important amendments to meet the requirements of modern era, he said, adding, “These amendments will give recognition to pharmacists for the first time in history and only a person with a degree in pharmacy will be considered a pharmacist while a diploma holder will be considered a pharmacy technician.” He said the amendments to the pharmacy act would enable the issuance of postgraduate specialised programmes diploma certificates for the first time in the country.
