Holy Quran memorisation champions crowned

Islamabad:The International Islamic University's grand finale of the All-Pakistan Quran Memorisation Competition, coupled with the esteemed Mehfil e Qir'at, witnessed awe-inspiring performances at the iconic Faisal Mosque.

Fifteen talented hufaz showcased their prowess after emerging triumphant from a pool of 500 participants representing schools and madrasas nationwide. Renowned Quranic reciters, including Sheikh Samir Bilal and Sheikh Yasir Saraya from Egypt, alongside local talents like Yasir Sohail Tareen, mesmerized the audience at Mehfil e Husn e Qirat.

Hafiz Moeedullah of Balochistan's Pishin district clinched the top honors, earning a coveted Umrah ticket. Hafiz Muhammad Nauman of Haripur secured the second position, bagging a cash prize of 20,000 rupees, while Muhammad Mujahid from Lodhran claimed the third spot, along with a cash prize of 10,000 rupees.

In a graceful ceremony, Nasir Farid, IIUI's Head of Public Relations, along with Chairman Qari Muhammad Zaman Usmani, and distinguished scholars, lauded the winners' dedication and commitment. Addressing the gathering, Nasir Farid emphasized IIUI's commitment to promoting Islamic teachings without sectarian biases, underscoring the Quran's significance in both worldly and spiritual success.

Highlighting the generous support from Saudi Arabia, Farid announced plans for a new mosque at IIUI, reflecting the institution's dedication to religious service. Qari Muhammad Zaman Usmani commended the competitors' journey and underscored Ittihad Al-Qura's role in fostering Quranic memorization and beautiful recitation. The event marked a celebration of faith, talent, and unity, resonating with the institution's ethos of academic excellence intertwined with spiritual enlightenment.
