NOWSHERA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTIP) Chairman Pervez Khattak announced quitting as the head of his party “due to poor health” on Saturday.
Sources said he had also resigned from basic membership of his own party. “I can’t handle more political responsibilities and want to focus on my recovery,” he added.
Former chief minister Mahmood Khan has been elected as the new chairman of PTIP.
The development came after the PTI legal team held talks with the PTIP leadership for merger of the two parties. The first round of talks was held with Pervez Khattak, but the second round was held with Mahmood Khan after the resignation of Khattak.
