LAHORE: The Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) launched Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate, comprising a total of 456 acres of land, in February 2012 with the vision to accelerate the economic growth of Southern Punjab.

A statement by PIEDMC states that after phenomenal success of Sundar Industrial Estate, Lahore, Government of Punjab was determined to replicate the model in other areas of the province.

Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate is a great addition to the economy of the district in particular and country in general. This project manifests the superb vision of the Chief Minister Punjab to alleviate poverty from Southern Punjab and bring it at par with the rest of the province.  Chief Minister Punjab had not only launched the industrial estate in February 2012 but also remained involved personally in its development. Despite of resistance from certain concerns, who are basically against the development of the district, spread negative rumours and discourage the locals, the estate has come up very well. The Phase-I is fully complete and work on Phase-II is also 80 % complete.

The first factory commenced construction in November 2014 i.e. just after 2 years 9 months,  which is a clear indication that Phase-I was ready by this date and potential industrialists were in a position to establish their industries.

The development of the estate is entirely dependent on the revenues generated from the sale of plots.

Although revenue could only be generated from only 108 sold acres inspite of that development has taken place many folds.

The estate offers a huge potential and is a highly commercially viable preposition.

All allied facilities like commercial areas, community centre, hotels, parks, mosques, vocational training institute and other amenities are integral part of the plan and will be constructed once industrial estate is substantially colonized.
