Parties urged to include workers’ welfare in manifestos
LAHORE : Working class has urged all political parties to include following demands in their election manifesto.
Abolishing unemployment, checking price hike and elimination of feudalism and irrational gap between the rich and poor in society and elimination of women and child labour and ensuring provision of free and standard education to each child, ensuring fundamental rights and ensuring safety of the workers by provision of safe and healthy working conditions at workplaces are the demands which should be included in the agenda of a political party, they stressed.
Parities’ manifestos should minimum wages at least 40pc in conformity with price hike to the workers employed in industries, trade, banks, media and press and public sector and ensuring implementation of ILO Convention ratified by the government for the welfare of the workers. Those demands were raised in a meeting of All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions (Regd.) held at Bakhtiar Labour Hall here under Khurshid Ahmad, General Secretary of the Federation. It was demanded that the workers employed in industries and public sector may be brought on regular cadre.
