Official vows efforts for drug-free society
PESHAWAR: Secretary Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah, has emphasised on the commitment to creating a drug-free society in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the Excise Department is actively conducting operations against narcotics, particularly targeting drug smugglers. The focus extends to monitoring educational institutions to safeguard students and youth from the menace of drugs.
A handout issued here on Saturday stated that the Excise Police Station in Peshawar region has achieved a significant milestone by apprehending the main operative of an international drug network in an operation.
The accused attempted to smuggle heroin capsules concealed within a large juice box. During the operation at Haji Camp, Excise officials seized 32 heroin-filled capsules, each weighing 250 grams, from the accused.
Jahangir, son of Tila Khan and resident of Daudzai, was arrested on the spot. A case was registered at the Excise Police Station in Peshawar for further investigation and legal action.
