SUKKUR: Early marriages may cause cervical cancer and mother and child mortality, speakers at a seminar said here on Monday. The three-day seminar was organised by the NARI Foundation in collaboration with Sindh Community Foundation and United Nation Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.
Renowned writer and poet Dr Adal Soomro, Dr Rasool Bakhash, Javeed and others said that poverty, illiteracy, social taboos and feudal system are behind the early marriages. They said that the Sindh government after discussion finally announced the Child Marriage Restraint Act-2013.
