Three shortlisted for Mirpurkhas varsity VC

Member of search committee informed Jang that after conducting interviews, committee forwarded 3 names to caretaker CM

The search committee tasked with appointing a new vice-chancellor (VC) for the University of Mirpurkhas, Sindh, has shortlisted three candidates for the position.

The final decision now rests in the hands of the caretaker chief minister of Sindh, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar) who is expected to interview the candidates after clearance from intelligence agencies.

The candidates selected by the committee include Dr Rafiq Ahmed Memon, who is pro-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Dr Madad Ali Shah, who is a former VC of the Technical University, Khairpur, and Institute of Business Management’s Prof Tariq Rahim Soomro.

A member of the search committee informed Jang that after conducting thorough interviews, the committee had forwarded the three names to the caretaker CM for final selection.

The search committee selected the three names after evaluating a pool of over 60 applicants. After careful scrutiny, 32 candidates were deemed qualified and invited for interviews. The rigorous selection process took place over two days, during which 20 candidates were interviewed on the first day, and 12 on the second.

The other shortlisted candidates included Dr Anila Atta-ul-Rahman, Dr Bikaram, Dr Nargis Anjum, Hamadullah Kake Putu, Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Sheikh, Dr Kishan Chand Makwana, Dr Fateh Chandio, Prof Imamuddin Khoso, Nabi Bakhsh Narejo, Dr Ghous Bakhsh Narejo, Prof Dr Anjum Parveen, Dr Intizar Ali Lashari, Dr Ismail Kanbhar, Dr Mansoor Ali Abro, Dr Parshotam Khatri, Dr Sirajul Haq, Dr Usman Khairio and Dr Wazir Ali Baloch.

The search committee was headed by Sindh Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Tariq Rafi. It included Noor Ahmed Samo, Secretary Boards and Universities, Sadaf Anis, Secretary Colleges, and retired bureaucrats Sohail Akbar Shah and Dr Pirzada Qasim. Moinuddin Siddiqui, the Sindh HEC secretary, attended its meeting online.
