KHAR: The families of police personnel martyred in the recent blast triggered with an improvised explosive device in Bajaur tribal district were given cash compensation on Monday.
The compensation announced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department and Frontier Corps (North) for the martyred cops was handed over to the legal heirs by Additional Inspector General of Police (Welfare) Hameedullah and District Police Officer Kashif Zulfiqar.
The officials met the bereaved families and expressed grief on the tragic incident and offered fateha for the departed souls.Initially, the blast had claimed the lives of five cops and left 28 others wounded. Ten of the injured were later taken to a hospital in Peshawar due to their precarious condition.
However, three of the injured cops later succumbed to their wounds at hospital in Peshawar, taking the death toll to eight.The van carrying cops was on its way to the field to deploy the personnel for the security of the anti-polio drive when the vehicle was attacked with an IED planted along the roadside in Belot area in Mamond tehsil.The van was badly damaged in the explosion as well.
