LAHORE:The very unhealthy air quality continued to prevail in the provincial metropolis on Thursday, which was trapped into a cold wave.
Met officials warned that dense fog was likely to continue over the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during this week. They advised the citizens to be cautious and avoid unnecessary road trips. They warned that day temperatures were likely to remain below normal in most parts of Punjab due to dense fog.
They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most plain areas of the country while very cold/partly cloudy in northern parts and north Balochistan. However light rain (light snowfall over mountains) was expected in upper KP, GB and Kashmir. Dense fog/smog was likely to persist in plain areas of Punjab.Thursday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -11°C, while in Lahore, it was 5.3°C and maximum was 14.2°C.
