Tortured body recovered from drain

LAHORE:The tortured body of a 30-year-old man was recovered from a drain in the Gujjarpura area on Thursday. The locals spotted the body floating in the drain in China scheme and informed the police.

Edhi volunteers fished out the body from the drain and shifted it to the morgue. Police said that the victim, yet to be identified, was killed after being tortured and the body was thrown into the drain.

UTwo kite-sellers arrested; kites string seized

Factory Area police arrested two kite-sellers and recovered 3,600 kites and 20 spools of chemical string from them. The accused were identified as Aslam and Usman. The accused confessed to getting online orders and supplying kites to different areas in the City.

Six die in road accidents in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 867 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, six people died, whereas 894 were injured. Out of these, 403 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 491 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue medical teams.

11,254 drug pushers held in 2023

Lahore police registered 11,096 cases and arrested 11,254 drug peddlers in 2023. The police recovered 7,102 kg hashish, more than 168 kg heroin, over 61 kg ice, and 151,619 liter confiscated alcohol from them.

Cantonment division police booked 2,394 drug dealers, Civil Lines 1,182, City division 2,404, Iqbal Town division 1,634, Sadr division 1,404, and Model Town police 2,078 drug peddlers.

Three found dead

Three persons were found dead in different areas of the provincial capital on Thursday. A 45-year-old man was found dead near Ali Park, Tibbi City and a 24-year-old youth was recovered dead from the Muslim Town area.

Both the persons, yet to be identified, were addicted to drugs and died of excessive use of drugs. Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man identified as Shujaat Hussain died of heart attack in the Shafiqabad area. The police shifted the bodies to the mortuary.
