Govt decides to change anti-polio drive schedule
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to change the schedule of the national anti-polio campaign.
According to sources, the national anti-polio campaign will be completed in 2 phases instead of 3. The schedule of the national polio campaign has been changed in consultation with the provinces for better results. The first nationwide phase of the national polio campaign will run from January 8 to 14.
The second phase of the campaign will run from January 15 to 19 in Lakki Marwat, South Waziristan. More than four and a half million children will be vaccinated against polio in the campaign.
More than 23 million children will be vaccinated against polio in Punjab, 13 million in Sindh, 2.6 million in Balochistan, 436,000 in Islamabad, 724,000 thousand in Azad Kashmir and 280,000 children in Gilgit-Baltistan. More than 3 lakh frontline workers will be deployed in the national polio campaign.
