Top leaders file nomination papers

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also filed his nomination papers for NA-128, Lahore

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) on Friday submitted the nomination papers of party’s supreme leader Nawaz Sharif for NA-15, Mansehra.

Accompanied by the former federal minister Sardar Yousuf and former MNA Captain (retd) Safdar, Barrister Jahangir Jadoon submitted Nawaz’s nomination papers with the Returning Officer.

“The Islamabad High Court has given Nawaz Sharif a clean chit to contest elections and now nothing is coming in his way to become prime minister for the fourth time,” said Jadoon after submitting the nomination papers at the court’s premises.

Captain Mohammad Safdar said that Nawaz Sharif was the only leader who could pull the country out of economic and political challenges.

It may be noted that Nawaz has also obtained nomination forms for NA-130, Lahore.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also filed his nomination papers for NA-128, Lahore.

Bilawal submitted the nomination papers through a representative.

Meanwhile, nomination papers have been submitted on behalf of PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Zardari’s papers have been submitted from NA-207, Nawabshah.

Meanwhile, nomination papers have been submitted on behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.

The papers have been submitted for NA-89, Mianwali. Earlier, on Thursday, Imran had signed the papers in Adiala Jail.

PPP leader and former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani submitted his nomination papers from NA-148, Multan.

Talking to the media there, he said that NA-148 was his native constituency and he was contesting elections from this constituency after a long time.

National Assembly Speaker and PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf submitted his nomination papers for NA-52 in the office of Gujar Khan assistant commissioner.

Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the top leadership of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) submitted their nomination papers.

JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman would contest elections on two National Assembly seats, one from Dera Ismail Khan, and another from Pishin, Balochistan, while JI Emir Sirajul Haq would contest the elections from NA-7, Dir Lower-2.

JI KP chief Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan submitted nomination papers from National Assembly constituency NA-39 and PK-102 Bannu, deputy chief Maulana Mohammad Ismail from NA-6 Dir Lower-1, provincial vice-president Inayatullah Khan submitted his nomination papers for provincial assembly seat from his native town Dir Upper PK-13 and provincial secretary general Abdul Wasi from PK-61, Mardan.

PMLN leader and former federal minister for defence Khawaja Asif submitted his nomination papers for NA-71 and provincial constituencies PP-46 and PP-47, Sialkot. Talking to the media, he said a decision would be taken in consultation with colleagues about the provincial constituency to contest election. Meanwhile, nomination papers from former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and PMLN candidate Nasir Iqbal Bosal have been submitted for NA-69, Mandi Bahauddin. According to details, a number of lawyers have submitted the nomination papers of Elahi. Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s (IPP) leader Abdul Aleem Khan submitted his papers for NA-119 and PP-149, Lahore.
