E-gates to be installed at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad airports
KARACHI: Plans are afoot to install “e-gates” at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports for immigration like the developed countries.
According to airport sources, the installation of “e-gates” has been started at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport and Islamabad International Airport to provide fast immigration facility to passengers.
According to sources, discussions in this regard have been held with a company of the United Arab Emirates on behalf of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.
Like the airports of Dubai and other developed countries, passengers at the three major airports of Pakistan will be able to avoid the hassle of long immigration queues and will be able to do their own immigration.
According to immigration sources, the passengers must have an e-passport to use the e-gate facility.
