GDA forms 13-member board to finalise candidates for general elections
The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) on Sunday announced the formation of a parliamentary board to give tough time to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh in the coming general elections scheduled for Feb 8.
According to a press statement issued by the GDA, the alliance’s chief Pir Pagara would be the chairman of the board while Dr Safdar Abbasi would be its secretary.
Sardar Abdul Rahim would serve as the information secretary of the board comprising 13 GDA leaders. The basic task of the board would be to choose and facilitate its candidates participating in the upcoming elections under the electoral symbol ‘star’.
Those aspiring to contest the elections on the GDA’s ticket have been directed to submit their applications in the name of Dr Abbasi to the Functional League House in Clifton.
The board would receive applications from the aspiring candidates of the National and provincial assemblies and would also reach out to suitable candidates.
Rahim stated that the GDA had geared up to actively participate in the 2024 elections and with substantial support from the public, it aimed to secure a significant majority in the Sindh Assembly to form the provincial government.
