Minister for forming task force on diabetes
LAHORE: The caretaker provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram participated in the inter-provincial ministerial meeting chaired by federal health minister Dr Nadeem Jan through a video link conference in the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education.
Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Dr Jamal Nasir, Sindh Health Minister, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister and other officers also participated. A detailed review was done.
Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram lauded the initiative of Federal Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan of organising a meeting of inter-provincial health ministers for the improvement of the health sector.
Diabetes has become a rapidly spreading disease in Pakistan. A special task force should be formed to control the disease in Pakistan. Thousands more dialysis machines are needed due to the increasing rate of diabetes in Pakistan. To control diabetes, we have to improve antenatal care.
Dr Javed Akram said that under the leadership of the chief minister, patients were being facilitated in government hospitals across the province.
Canadian varsity delegation meets minister
A delegation from the University of Manitoba, Canada, met with the caretaker provincial health minister Prof Dr Javed Akram at the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education.
On this occasion, Executive Director of the Institute of Global Public Health Canada James Blanchard, Director CDC Punjab Dr Yadullah and others were present. James Blanchard also gave a briefing on this occasion for further improvement in the health sector.
Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram said that international stakeholders were playing an important role in the health sector. Pakistan is going to become the third largest country in the world after the next 20 years. We have to provide better health facilities to the people of Pakistan in the same ratio.
He said that the public health sector guarantees the health to millions of people. Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine is representing the doctor community in the whole world.
