ECP appoints 32 RECs as RMCs for polls
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has appointed all 32 regional election commissioners (RECs) as regional monitoring coordinators (RMCs) for the general elections next year.
A one-day online training workshop for RMCs was organized at the Election Commission Secretariat here. The exercise was conducted at the Election Monitoring Control Centre, wherein all RECs were trained as RMCs.
In the one-day workshop, training was given on the monitoring framework of the ECP and monitoring rooms to be set up at provincial, divisional and district levels.
According to the ECP Media Coordination and Outreach Wing, regional monitoring coordinators/regional election commissioners will also train district monitoring officers and monitoring teams in their respective divisions after this training. Two months ago, a two-day training of all RMCs was held at the Election Commission Secretariat Islamabad.
All regional coordinators will ensure effective and comprehensive monitoring at division levels in the upcoming general elections and further guide and monitor the monitoring teams of their respective districts.
In the general elections, four-level monitoring control rooms will be set up by the Election Commission of Pakistan. Provincial, Divisional and District Monitoring Control Rooms will function under the supervision of the Central Monitoring Control Centre Islamabad.
Legal action will be taken on the spot for violation of the code of conduct during the elections.
