Transgendered persons seek protection
PESHAWAR: The transgender community has demanded protection from harassment and the arrest of the killers of their colleague who was murdered recently.
Speaking at a news conference, the members of the transgender community expressed concern over the rising crimes against the community and demanded the government to take steps to provide them security.
The representatives of the transgender community including office-bearers of the TransAction Association, Farzana Riaz, Arzoo and others were present. They said that the number of the FIRs for crimes against the members of the transgender community had reached hundreds, but the culprits could not be brought to justice. They pointed out that during the last five years, many transgendered persons were targeted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
