Punjab bans five cough syrups
LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir has revealed that the Punjab government has banned the sale of five different cough syrups manufactured by a local pharmaceutical company.
In a handout issued here Friday, Dr Jamal Nasir said that these cough syrups were also used to be exported to other countries in the region. On the complaint of Maldives, an investigation by the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the presence of high alcohol content in these syrups. On the recommendation of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, the Punjab government stopped the sale of all these five syrups in the province, he added. The syrup manufacturing company was also being sealed. Dr Jamal Nasir further said that zero tolerance would be observed against those involved while strict action would be taken against those bringing disrepute to the country, he assured.
