Happy Baisakhi

The festival of Baisakhi is significant for both Muslims and Sikhs in Punjab for its cultural and religious symbolism. It is celebrated every year at the start of the Punjabi month ‘Baisakh’. Punjabis, particularly farmers, celebrate this festival to rejoice the harvesting season because it is supposed to bring good fortune to them.

This festival has religious importance for the Sikh community because the last Guru of Sikhism, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, laid the foundation of Sikh Panth on this day at ‘Anandpur Sahib’ in East Punjab. To celebrate this festival Sikh pilgrims from all over the world gather at Gurudwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal every year. This year too, the Sikh community from various countries has assembled at Gurudwara Panja Sahib and is celebrating Baisakhi by offering special prayers.
