MARI starts Ghazij-2 production
KARACHI: Mari Petroleum Company Limited said on Monday it had started gas production from its appraisal well Ghazij-2 in Sindh province, adding to the country's domestic energy supply.
The company said in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that the well was producing around 8 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas, which was being supplied to Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL).
"This new supply of gas will contribute in reducing the energy demand and supply gap in the country during forthcoming winter season, and will help save foreign exchange through indigenous hydrocarbon production," the company said. MARI holds a 100 percent working interest in the Mari D&PL block, where it drilled and tested the Ghazij-2 well last month.
