Crackdown on vehicles causing pollution launched

LAHORE: Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a crackdown on vehicles causing environmental pollution through the Safe City cameras here Wednesday.

A series of e-tickets are also being issued for vehicles emitting smoke. In this regard, monitoring through cameras is ongoing on the city's internal and external routes, busy and important intersections. Legal actions are being taken against those who set trash on fire and strict measures are being taken against vehicles spreading pollution by carrying dust, dirt, sand, and other pollutants on the city's roads. The PSCA spokesperson stated that alongside the eradication of crime, PSCA is making efforts to clean the environment and enhance the city's aesthetics.

Newly-appointed SDPOs meeting

IGP Dr Usman Anwar has said that young police officers should properly adapt themselves to the requirements of challenges of field policing during deployment. He expressed these views while presiding over a video link meeting of newly-appointed SDPOs at the Central Police Office on Wednesday.

Cheque distributed

IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar distributed cheques to the families of 10 martyrs, who embraced martyrdom before 2017, for the construction of houses at a ceremony held at the Central Police Office on Wednesday. A sum of Rs500,000 was given to the families of head constables Ghulam Murtaza and Nazir Ahmad of Lahore Police, Khalid Mehmood of Rawalpindi police. Families of Saeed Ahmed Shaheed of Khanewal, Ahsanullah Shaheed of Okara, M Safdar Khan Shaheed of Jhelum were given Rs5 lakh each. The families of Riaz Hussain of Multan, Khursheed Ahmed, Amjad Khan of Sialkot and M Amjad Shaheed of Gujarat were given Rs5 lakh each.

Addict commits suicide

A 30-year-old drug addict reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself frustrated over not getting drugs in Ravi Road. The victim Kashif, a resident of Chowki Sabzi Mandi, could not get drugs. He locked himself in a room and claimed his life by hanging himself.
