Proposed privatisation of Wapda

BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of Mepco Bahawalpur circle employees and activists of the All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union on Wednesday staged a sit-in against the proposed privatization of Wapda at the Wapda Complex for the second consecutive day here.
The protesters also observed a strike and closed their offices to register their protest. They chanted slogans against the proposed privatization of Wapda and distribution companies. Speaking on the occasion, All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union divisional chairman Shafi Saleem Shah, Rana Kamran, Tariq Khan, Malik Asghar, Haji Ashraf, Tahir Khan, Malik Arif, Jafar Iqbal, Sadiq Jafri, Muhammad Waseem, Shahzad Sial and Asghar Ali rejected the proposed privatization and asked the government to withdraw the decision.
