15 terrorists of banned organisation killed in Kalat operation
QUETTA: After the arrest of an Indian spy, Pakistani security agencies have detained an Afghan intelligence officer. The Frontier Corps Balochistan on Wednesday said it had arrested an officer of the Afghan intelligence in the border town of Chaman and recovered weapons, explosives and other material from his possession. Separately, security forces on Wednesday killed 15 suspected terrorists of a banned organisation in Kalat.
An FC spokesman said the FC personnel on a tip-off raided a house in Shahedan and arrested the Afghan agent who was living in the area, training spies and carrying out anti-peace activities.
The seized material included four SMGs, one sniper scope, one LMG belt, three Motorola sets, 11 Motorola antennas, bundles of prime cord, 25 small ball bearings, 10 large ball bearings, grenade pins, 18 explosive batteries, 25 battery sticks, one switch button, 18 battery connections, one pistol cover, two empty ammo bags, 75 detonator fuses, 11 kg of explosives, one night vision scope and other items. Special investigation teams are now interrogating the suspect.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, in a message, praised the FC for the arrest, adding that the FC had sacrificed and contributed a lot to ensure a good law and order situation in the province.
According to the spokesman for the Balochistan government, Anwarul Haq Kakar, the arrested foreign intelligence officer is currently under investigation. He said security forces were on a high alert and were strictly monitoring Pakistan’s borders with neighbouring Iran and Afghanistan.
Kakar said that the arrest of the Afghan intelligence officer was a link in the chain of events that had started with the arrest of Kulboshan Yadav.Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri expressed satisfaction over the arrest of an Afghan intelligence official. In a statement, he appreciated the FC for arresting the Afghan agent.
He said law enforcement agencies were ensuring peace in the country and the entire nation stood with the armed forces.Separately, IGFC Balochistan Maj-Gen Sher Afgan said they would continue chasing terrorists in order to clear the province of terrorism.
Addressing a ceremony held in connection with the IGFC Youth Firing Competition, he said elements involved in anti-peace activities would not be allowed to implement their nefarious designs. “The FC will continue chasing terrorists to make Balochistan a completely peaceful land.”
Separately, security forces on Wednesday killed 15 suspected terrorists of a banned organisation in Kalat.Government sources said that law enforcement agencies had killed 15 suspects in a search operation in the Johan area of Kalat and also destroyed their two hideouts.The sources said that LEAs recovered heavy ammunition from the hideouts. Several suspected terrorists were reportedly injured in the operation.
