LAHORE

Around 50 jeeps/SUVs will compete for the title in the very first Lahore off-road jeep rally being organised by Tourism Development Corporation Pakistan (TDCP) on Sunday (today).

After the success of the Cholistan Jeep Rally, the event by the TDCP is expected to attract attention to the historical city of Lahore and add to its tourist attractions. The rally will start at Babu Sahbu and after a round circuit of around 18 km will end at the same point. Another important dimension to this event is that women drivers are also going to participate in the rally. A special category, in addition to others based on vehicle specs, has been added to ensure gender diversity to the event.

The competing hopefuls drew attention to the event in a rally in the provincial metropolis on Saturday let by the double-decker Lahore tourism bus.

The vehicles gathered at the Punjab Stadium and drove through various roads of the city and ended at Governor's House. On arrival at Governor's House, a ceremony was held for the starting point line-up.
