TIMERGARA: Activists of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Lower Dir chapter staged protest against the federal government for permitting Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf to go abroad.
The protesters were chanting slogans “Go Nawaz Go”. “Pervez Musharraf toppled Nawaz Sharif’s government in 1999 and he was also wanted by the court in high-profile murder cases of Benazir Bhutto and Akbar Bugti but the same Nawaz Sharif’s government let Musharraf go abroad under a secret deal,” said one of the speakers.
The speakers recalled that Musharraf did not allow Nawaz to attend the funeral prayer of his father but the premier himself set the stage for the former dictator’s escape, which they termed a shameful act.
