Poor facilities: Schoolgirl faints from dehydration
Karachi
A government-run primary school was found to have been functioning without a drinking water facility and electricity after a girl fainted due to dehydration at the school’s premises, on Wednesday.
With the temperature in the metropolis gradually rising, the Government Girls Primary Radiant School according to its students did not have a proper drinking-water facility, whereas the power supply had also been out for the past four months.
The school, located close to the Governor House, was according to an official of the K-Electric, being provided with uninterrupted power supply besides two other government-run schools in the same area.
“The electricity to the schools had not been disconnected but it could have been out due to a fault, as the KE had received a complaint of a power failure in the area which was immediately addressed by a team dispatched by the power utility,” claimed the official.
According to the school’s administration the girls had gathered to plan for a get-together to be held at the school on Thursday (today) when one of them passed out.
