‘Mepco recovers Rs 40,211,000’

MULTAN: Mepco Superintendent Engineer Muhammad Akram Bhatti Monday said the company’s recovery teams recovered Rs 40,211,000 from power thieves.
Talking to reporters, Bhatti said the Mepco imposed Rs 60.5 million fine on 3,910 consumers besides registration of theft cases during fiscal year 2015-16 and sent their cases to respective courts.
He said 3,635 domestic consumers were fined Rs 40, 3, 21000 on power theft from July 2015 to February 2016 and 164 commercial consumers were fined Rs 2,981,000.
He said 70 industrial and 36 tube well consumers were fined Rs 15,562,000 and Rs 5,819,000, respectively.
The SE said the Mepco Multan Cantonment division imposed fine of Rs 12,385,000 on 440 consumers, the Mumtazabad division Rs 5,813,000 on 209 consumers, the Multan City division Rs 8,024,000 on 881 consumers, the Mepco Shujaabad division Rs 14,915,000 on 1,284 consumers, the Multan Musa Pak division Rs 16,094,000 on 722 consumers and the Multan Shah Rukin Allam division Rs 7,774,000 on 374 consumers.
Meanwhile, Mepco Board of Directors Procurement Committee Chairman Rajan Sultan Pirzada chaired the procure committee meeting and asked Mepco officials to use developmental budget in a careful way and with solid planning.
The committee has sent to the Mepco Board of Directors demands for 1,000 transformers of 100 to 200 KV for final approval.
The body also approved construction of multi-story offices in Multan Qasimpur, Kehror Pacca, Haroonabad, Kabirwala and Bahawalpur, and forwarded purchase cases of 132-KV DC Towers, power cables, ground conductor and MVAK Power Transformers to ensure frequent power supply during summer season.
The Mepco Chief Executive Engineer Fazaullah Durrani and others also attended the procure body meeting.
