KOHAT: The senior officer of the Pakistan Army, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Peshawar a day earlier, was laid to rest in Chambai area in the district on Saturday.
The funeral prayer for Lieutenant Colonel Tariq Ghafoor was offered and was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Chambai area with full state honours. Senior civil and army officials attended his funeral prayer.
Unidentified assailants had shot Tariq Ghafoor dead at a mosque near Hayatabad in the provincial capital. The proscribed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility for the killing.
He was the elder son of former inspector general of Frontier Corps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Major General Fazal Ghafoor and brother of Asad. The deceased was survived by a son, three daughters and a widow.
