Development not possible sans peace: Zehri
Says rights of people living in Gwadar to be protected
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has said the provincial government is focusing on the peace and development of the area.
He expressed these views during a luncheon hosted in his hononur by the Balochistan Newspapers Editor Council here on Wednesday. Efforts are being made to achieve the objectives, he said adding Gwadar is a strong part of Balochistan and it will remain a part of the province.
In order to address the apprehensions of the local people of Gwadar after development, a legislation is being made to protect their rights in this connection, he said.
About the law and order, the chief minister said that without improving the law and order situation, the goals of development could not be achieved. The government is not only cognizant about its responsibility but also taking actions against terrorists involved in the murder of innocent people and personnel of the law enforcement agencies, he said.
Nawab Sanaullah said that no one in the world is allowed to enforce his agenda with the power of gun. Everybody holds constitutional rights to live an independent life, he observed. He said that being a chief minister it is his responsibility and duty to protect the rights of masses.
He said that our forefathers with the power of sword protected minorities and oppressed people for centuries and rendered sacrifices while members of my own family have embraced martyrdom for the people of Balochistan.
The chief minister said the law and order situation of the province has been improved. He said for the establishment of a peaceful Balochistan the media should play its role and create awareness among the people.
He said the government besides improving the law and order situation is also seriously focusing on the process of development in the province, especially the improvement of the Quetta city and the provision of basic life amenities to the masses.
Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah and Senator Agha Shahbaz Durrani were also present on the occasion.
