Decision on transfer of ‘encounter’ case on 11th
Karachi
A local court on Tuesday fixed March 11 to announce its ruling pertaining to the transfer of a ‘fake’ police encounter case to the anti-terrorism court (ATC).
An application was filed with the judicial magistrate Malir by Muhammad Anwar, father of Aneesur Rehman, who was allegedly killed by police officials in a fake encounter, in 2012 in the Sohrab Goth area.
The father maintained the officials had claimed his son was associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He said it was an act of terrorism and the accused should be tried in an ATC.
A case was registered against former SHO Sohrab Goth police station Ismail Lashari and other police officials Shoaib Shaikh, Mukhtar Mangi, Shabbir Khoso and Khalid Bhatti. The police had registered six criminal cases against Rehman.
