ATF Pakistan 14 & Under Tennis C’ship begins today
KARACHI: After a lapse of 11 years, international action will be finally revived in Pakistan when the ATF Pakistan 14 & Under Tennis Championship commences at S Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad on Monday (today).
The Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) has allotted two back-to-back international 14 and under Asian ranking championships to Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF).
Because of the ITF embargo, the PTF had been holding international events, including Davis Cup and ITF juniors 18 events, abroad.
These two ATF championships will be a significant milestone for the PTF as their successful staging will open the doors for more international events.
The first leg is being organised by the PTF and the second leg will be organised by the Islamabad Tennis Association.
ITF White Badge umpires Arif Qureshi and Shehzad Akhter Alvi will supervise the first and second legs, respectively.
The qualifying rounds to finalise the list of wild cards will be played today and the main first round matches will begin from Tuesday (tomorrow).
