Islamabad if demands not met
From Our Correspondent
JHANG: Pakistan Kisan Ittehad central president Khalid Mehmood Khokhar Thursday said if the government will not accept farmers’ demands, workers of the Kisan Ittehad would march towards Islamabad.
Addressing a press conference after an opening ceremony of the party district office here, he urged the government to accept the farmers demands approved in the All Parties Conference (APC) held on the farmers’ woes. He said thousands workers of the Kisan Ittehad would start marching towards Islamabad this month if their issues were not resolved. He accused the rulers of ignoring the agriculture sector, saying that now the farmers had no other option except to protest.
Khokhar said a very successful APC on agriculture was arranged in Islamabad on February 14 in which leaders of the PML-N, the PTI, the PPP, the JI, the MQM and other political parties participated. He said during the APC sessions several things were approved and signed by all leaders.
Bharwana said hundreds of sugarcane growers were wandering to receive their payments pending with local sugar mills but nothing is being done in this regard.
Pakistan Kisan Ittehad district president Abuzar Bharwana and other leaders were also present.
