Rangers arrest ‘hitman’ in Mehmoodabad raid

An alleged target killer was arrested by the Sindh Rangers in a raid on a hideout in Mehmoodabad area on Monday.
The suspect was identified as Mehmood Ali Shaikh and the Rangers officials presented him before an anti-terrorism court and obtained 90-day preventive detention.
According to the spokesman of the paramilitary force, the suspect is affiliated with the militant wing of a political party. He said the suspect has served as the party’s unit in-charge and the head of labour division in district South.
The spokesman said the suspect also visited India with another member of the militant wing, Jawed Langra.
The Rangers officials said the suspect, during initial investigation, confessed to carrying out several murders and his involvement in extortion and China-cutting.
