Traffic rules awareness stressed

FAISALABAD: Speakers at a workshop have called for creating awareness among the masses to follow traffic rules.
The workshop was organised on traffic rules at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, under the auspices of Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Motor Pool Department and Treasurer Office in collaboration with the City Traffic Police here on Tuesday. Dean Faculty of Agri Engineering Prof Dr Allah Bakhsh said that traffic education was prerequisite to bring about discipline on roads. He said that underage drivers, double parking, lack of civic sense and mushroom traffic growth were the root cause of traffic mess. He stressed upon introducing the traffic rules’ inclusion in syllabus. Treasure Umer Saeed said that with the growing population, traffic was increasing with the large pace. In the current scenario, it was must to follow the traffic rules to safeguard the lives of the people. He said that 80 per cent accidents were caused due to negligence, rash driving, speeding, drowsiness, lane violation and use of mobile phones during driving. Motor Pool incharge Dr Muhammad Azam said that if we educate the people about proper traffic rules, accidents could be minimised. Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal said that majority of road users were uneducated about safety rules. Muhammad Ismail and Muhammad Waqas of traffic police gave training about the traffic rules.
