Poor state of the country

By our correspondents
October 20, 2016

This refers to the article, ‘Rich resources, poor people’, (Oct 9, TNS) by Alauddin Masood. The article highlights the large numbers of Pakistan’s massive mineral deposits. Although this gives a confident outlook regarding the future of the country, the latest figures of the country’s GDP, exports, imports, per capita income, social services, standard of living, education and health facilities, released by the international agencies are quite discouraging.

Countries like South Korea, had lower per capita income than Pakistan during the 1960s and 70s, have now become developed. In spite of having so many natural resources the country’s situation has not improved.
