KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday directed the Federal Investigation Agency to engage counsel on bail application proceedings of M/s Axact directors, pending at the SHC. The bail application of Axact directors Rizwan Ahmed, Imran Ahmed Khan, Atif Hussain, Adnan Saboor and others were pending before the SHC.
They have moved the SHC against rejection of their bail from a sessions court in the Axact fake degree and money-laundering scam. The bail applications of Axact directors were taken up before an SHC single bench comprising Justice Syed Mohammad Farooq Shah.
FIA DG Shahid Hayat sought time from the court to engage counsel on behalf of the FIA as the previous counsel, Zahid Jamil, had disassociated himself from the prosecution side. The court, granting time, directed the FIA to engage counsel and adjourned the hearing till February 11.
It is pertinent to mention here that FIA’s previous special public prosecutor, Zahid Jamil, had on previous hearing disassociated himself from the bail applications’ proceedings of M/s Axact directors, pending at Sindh High Court.
Axact’s CEO Shoaib Ahmed Sheikh and other directors were booked by the FIA for their involvement in fake degree scam and money laundering charges and the proceedings were pending before the trial court.
