PEF orders tight security at partner schools

Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has asked the school partners to ensure proper security measures in their schools for the protection and safety of students and their teachers. 

A circular in this regard has been issued. A PEF spokesperson said these directions had been issued in line with the orders of the Punjab government for arranging proper security of the schools. 

According to the circular, the boundary wall of the school should be barbed with 8 feet height. Only one gate should be used for entry and exit, and all other gates should remain closed. There should be proper security guard at the main gate along-with a metal detector. Schools are further directed to install closed circuit TV cameras inside and outside with 24 hours recording facility. All the visitors should be properly checked upon and their entry should be recorded in the guests’ register.

The schools should also conspicuously place telephone numbers of institutions concerned including Rescue 1122 along with briefing the students and teachers about their use, the circular further says.

Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh inaugurated the products of blue pottery at Home Gallery, DHA and said Tevta would join hands with private sector to display its products at renowned outlets of major cities in Punjab. 

“This cooperation will be beneficial for the promotion and marketing of dwindling arts of blue pottery in Lahore”, he said, adding: “Through this joint venture, Tevta will have a great opportunity to introduce the ancient Multani art (Blue Kashigiri).”

Customs Day: On the occasion of World Customs Day on Tuesday (tomorrow), Pakistan Customs Lahore would organise two events at Custom House Nabha Road and at Wagha Border. 

According to customs sources, the first event of flag hosting ceremony would be held at 9am at Custom House Nabha Road whereas the other event of destroying of contraband goods would be held at 11. 30pm at Wagha Border, Terminal Wagha.

YDA: The elections of Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab Mayo Hospital chapter will be held on January 26. 

Two rival panels of Dr Shehryar Niazi Group (Reformers) and Dr Shoaib Niazi Group are in the run for elected YDA offices in Mayo Hospital. However, preparations in a run up to elections are on its peak and whole hospital has been studded with banners and flexes. Around 1,200 young doctors will use the right to vote. In a statement issued here on Sunday, Dr Shehryar Niazi Group (Reformers) has assured that they will strive for the rights of young doctors according to their manifesto after winning the elections and will strengthen the trust of young doctors on Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab by putting an end to hooliganism, extortion and corruption.
