HEC team visits IIU distance education directorate

A three-member team of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) visited the Directorate of Distance Education at International Islamic University (IIU).

HEC Quality Assurance Division Deputy Director Munir Ahmed led the team.

Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences/Director Directorate of Distance Education, briefed visitors about the progress of DDE.

The HEC team was given detail presentation about Directorate of Distance Education, its academics programmes, enrolment of students and capacity building activities of faculty members and the students. They were also apprised about trainings of teachers and students on Learning Management System (LMS).

In presentation, the team was also made aware about the framework for assessment, examination, teaching methodology, learning activities and profile of the management of DDE.

It was also informed that management committee of DDE has visited two sister universities offering programmes through mode of Distance Education for capacity building and involvement of QEC for the improvement of quality of content.

The HEC team highly appreciated the efforts of DDE, its highly motivated team and the effective use of LMS. At ht end, new options were also discussed to make DDE more efficient and strengthen.

Meanwhile, the IIU and University of North Carolina Wilmington USA are going to host an International Conferences to be held at UNCW (USA) in May 2016 on the following theme ‘The New Global City: Presenting and Translating Cultures with in a Worldwide Citizenry’.

This conference aims at exploring general concerns of global translations of national and regional cultures and subcultures.

As part of the US Department of State’s University Partnerships Grant Programme, the University of North Carolina Wilmington and the International Islamic University Islamabad will co-host a series of international conferences.

The first in the series, ‘The New Global City: Presenting and Translating Cultures within a Worldwide Citizenry,’ will take place in May 12-14, 2016 in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The conference welcomes proposals from the disciplines of English, Political Science, and International Relations related to the conference theme from all disciplines with the formats of include single papers, panels, and poster sessions.
