TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir livestock department on Thursday launched a weeklong special vaccination drive of farm cattle against certain highly infectious diseases like Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) at Haya Serai Veterinary Hospital.
The drive would continue till May, 31, in which farm animals like sheep, goats, cows, buffaloes and poultry chickens would be vaccinated.
Talking to journalists, animal husbandry expert Dr Muhammad Ismail said the drive was aimed at preventing the spread of animals’ seasonal and common diseases in the area. He said the vaccination campaign would help increase quantity of meat and milk.
He asked local farmers to bring cattle to the hospital and take advantage of the opportunity. He said local farmers would be facilitated to take care of their farm animals at home. The farmers appreciated the effort of the livestock department and said they would take benefit of the drive.
