LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued a security alert to educational institutions and medical institutions of Lahore and Faisalabad divisions and ordered foolproof security arrangements.

The letter, written by the Home Department, says the Tehreek-e-Tailban is planning to target the educational institutions of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan. The Bahauddin Zakariya University and the Nishtar Medical College are their preferred targets in the near future. The letter says Taliban commander Mulla Umar Mansour alias Naray has issued directions and dispatched six suicide bombers while the TTP Sajna group has sent 11 suicide bombers for attacks. The Home Department has called for extreme vigilance and foolproof security measures at all levels. It has conveyed to the district administrations of the divisions to adopt appropriate security measures and convene district intelligence committee meetings on a regular basis.
