QUETTA: A judicial magistrate sent the suspended finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani on 14 days physical remand on Saturday and handed him over to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for further investigation into the corruption case.

NAB had requested the court to grant 14 days physical remand of the accused for investigation into massive financial embezzlement by the secretary.

NAB told the court that the accused embezzled government funds during two years, from 2013 to 2015, and stashed the looted money in his house. Over Rs700 million cash, including local and foreign currency, was recovered from the house of Raisani. Also, gold jewellery weighing several kilograms was also recovered from his house. It does not seem that he alone is responsible. The accused submitted that his health condition was poor as he was a diabetic. The court directed NAB to provide medical facilities to the accused.
