Selfless public service a mission: Shahbaz
LAHORE
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government has always upheld national interests and selfless services to the people is its mission. He said that the PML-N government was striving to resolve people's problems and work was being carried out expeditiously on development projects of billions of rupees in rural and urban areas. He said that the purpose of development projects and welfare programmes of the government was to raise living standard of the citizens and provide maximum relief to masses.
He said that the PML-N leadership considered politics a form of worship but some self-motivated elements were trying to create hurdles in the process of progress and prosperity of the common man. However, he said, 180 million people of the country would not allow anyone to hinder the journey of development and prosperity. Shahbaz Sharif said that people had rejected such elements as were opposing projects of public welfare and progress of the country in general elections and in local governments elections as well. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-N, headed by former Member National Assembly Hanif Abbasi called on him Monday.
The chief minister said that the PML-N government was striving to resolve problems of the common man and the purpose of development projects and welfare programmes was to raise living style of citizens and provide maximum relief to the masses. He said that development activities were being carried out in urban areas along with rural areas and effective steps were being taken for resolving such public problems as were pointed out by public representatives. He said that modern transport facilities were being provided to rural populous through carpeted farm-to-market roads under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads programme. He said that rural economy would flourish with the completion of this big project of Rs150 billion and the lifestyle of rural population would be transformed. He said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train was a unique and unprecedented project in the history of the country.
He said that metro train was a public welfare project, which would result in provision of international standard travelling facilities to millions of citizens. He said that undue criticism of public welfare projects tantamount to opposition to provision of facilities to the masses. He said that those unduly opposing public welfare projects were enemies of progress and prosperity of the people. He said that elites had no interest in the welfare and betterment of the masses and the elements creating hurdles in public welfare projects could not tolerate removal of deprivation of the poor. He said that those who were criticising metro bus service became silent after the glorious success of this project and the same would happen in the case of orange line metro train.
He said that the opponents of public welfare programme did not want progress of the country or prosperity of the masses. He said that a handful of these people would continue to oppose progress of the common citizens while the government would continue its mission of public service and new records of public service would be set under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said that Pakistan metro bus service and Lahore metro bus service were providing safe, comfortable and modern transport facilities to lakhs of people and these projects had resolved transport problems of the common citizens.
