PES rescued 867,621 emergency victims in 2017

LAHORE: The Punjab Emergency Service (PES)rescued over 867,621 victims of different emergencies during786,137 operations in the year 2017. This was revealed in a meeting presided over by DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer at Rescue 1122 Headquarters held hereto review its performance during 2017. The meeting was attended by Mr Riffat Zia, Provincial Monitoring Officer (PMO), Dr Farhan Khalid, Registrar Emergency Services Academy (ESA), Dr Foaad Shahzad Mirza, Head of HR Wing, Faheem Ahmad Quershi, Head of PMER Wing, Ayaz Aslam, Headof Operations, Naeem Murtaza, Head of Provincial Monitoring Cell, Irfan Naseer, Deputy Director Repair and Maintenance and other officers.

The Provincial Monitoring Cell (PMC) briefed DG Rescue Punjab that 262,837 road traffic accidents, 16,386 fire incidents, 401,736 medical emergencies, 22,091 crime incidents, 115 different types of explosions, 07 bomb blasts,1,096 cases of drowning, 580 building collapses and 83,017other incidents took place across the Punjab in 2017 and collectively, Rescue 1122 rescued 5,436,280 emergency victims by managing of 4,705,328 rescue operations since inception of service which includes 1719,542 road traffic crashes,2,268,310 medical emergencies, 103,149 fire emergencies, 7,185building collapse, 169,178 crime incidents, 9,239 drowning cases, 1,412 different types of explosions and 427,313 others.
