PESHAWAR: A 15-member delegation of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Fata chapter, called on Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and informed him about the hardships being faced by the Mehsud tribesmen in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.
Dost Mohammad Mehsud, who led the delegation, said that he briefed the chief minister and presented the charter of demands to him on the behalf of Mehsud tribesmen. He said the Sindh Police had launched a crackdown to victimise the Pakhtuns, particularly the Mehsud tribesmen, in Karachi and other parts of the province.
He alleged that a large number of Mehsud tribesmen had been killed in fake encounters in Sindh. The PTI leader alleged that the police picked up youth belonging to the Mehsud tribe in Karachi for ransom and those who failed to pay the money were killed in fake encounters. He also alleged that the slain men were showed to media persons as terrorists.
Dost Mohammad Mehsud informed the chief minister that hundreds of Mehsud youth had gone missing in Sindh. He demanded the formation of a fact-finding commission to ascertain the facts and award exemplary punishment to the guilty police officials to stop the genocide of the Mehsud tribesmen in Karachi.
He put the number of the missing Mehsud youth in hundreds. The chief minister assured the delegation that he would visit Karachi to take up the issue with the Sindh governor and chief minister.
