KP bureaucrats appreciated NAB chairman
ISLAMABAD: Refer to the news published in daily “The News” dated March 29, 2019 titled “NAB Chairman apologises for excesses but promises no remedy”, a spokesman of NAB has clarified and said that Chairman NAB paid a visit to review the performance of NAB KP especially on going mega corruption cases. After his visit to NAB KP, he addressed to Bureaucracy of KP at Civil Secretariat Peshawar.
NAB has categorically rejected the allegation of offering any apology to Bureaucracy of KP of his tenure as chairman NAB which was even appreciated by all bureaucrats of KP. Chairman NAB said that NAB absolutely believes in “Accountability for All” policy across the board in accordance with law as well as believes in self accountability. During his address, he dispelled strongly the impression that Bureaucracy is not working because of NAB’s actions which is totally baseless, a malicious campaign against NAB. NAB does not believe in any kind of victimisation and NAB officers had ordered strictly to ensure self respect of every person. Due to excellent performance of NAB, the reputed national and international organisations have appreciated NAB’s performance. In the recent survey of Gillani and Gallop, 59 percent people have shown their confidence upon NAB.
He said that he was well aware of the problems of bureaucracy as he had himself served in different capacities. During his tenure as Chairman NAB for the last about 17 months, he tried his utmost to make NAB an independent and transformed into a vibrant organisation. During the last one year, NAB has submitted 590 corruption references in respected Accountability Courts which is record achievement as compared to any previous year. NAB thinks that a propaganda campaign is being launched against NAB that bureaucracy has stopped working due to fear of NAB which is against the ground reality After analysing NAB’s about 1400 under trial corruption cases, it has noticed that not more than two dozen corruption cases are against bureaucrats. The main aim of propaganda campaign against NAB is aimed for discouraging bureaucracy and to tarnish the image and repute of NAB as an independent anti-corruption organisation. NAB is an apex anti-corruption organisation which is committed to eradicate corruption and to recover looted money from corrupt and deposit it in national exchequer. He said that NAB has deposited Rs303 billion in national exchequer since its inception which is a record achievement. NAB is Bureaucracy’s own organisation which is people friendly organisation and eradication of corruption from country is collective responsibility including bureaucracy.
Chairman NAB urged bureaucrats to join hands with NAB to eradicate corruption for corruption-free Pakistan progress as NAB and bureaucracy has no affiliation with any group, party but our first and last affiliation is with state of Pakistan. Bureaucracy should perform its responsibilities in accordance with law, rules and regulations in order to have good governance. Chairman NAB handed over Rs86.5 million cheque to additional chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Shahzad Bangash which was recovered by NAB KP from corrupt elements. The Additional Chief Secretary KP thanked NAB for recovering looted money from corrupt. He also thanked Chairman NAB for addressing bureaucracy of KP and his vision for corruption-free Pakistan. Media is requested to kindly avoid speculations in this regards.
