PESHAWAR: The Pak Pictures Producers Association and Artistes Tuesday staged a protest and asked the government to take action against copyright violators and illegal ringtone shops.
They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands. The protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club and staged the protest.
President of the association, Abdur Rahim and general secretary Farhad were leading the protesters.
The speakers said that the retailers purchased a production by paying millions of rupees to earn some profit.
They said that they generate profit by arranging commercials and selling the production to small retailers but copyright violations and illegal downloading of such production the ringtone shops was ruining their business.
“A ringtone shop owner illegally downloads a million cost movie or drama into the mobile phone memory card or Universal Serial Bus (USB) devices in just Rs10 which causing huge loss to the retailers and other people associated with the showbiz industry,” said Abdur Rahim.
