Mian Iftikhar sees pre-poll rigging

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party General Secretary and President of tripartite alliance, Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Wednesday alleged that government had started pre-poll rigging for the local government elections and appealed to Chief Justice Supreme Court to hold the election under supervision of judiciary. He was addressing a joint meeting of Pakistan People’s Party, Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl here at the Bacha Khan Markaz.
Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party Rahimdad Khan, ANP parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak and JUI-F leaders were also present on the occasion.Mian Iftikhar said the tripartite alliance would make sincere efforts for its success in the upcoming local government polls.
He opposed the decision of PTI government to hold the election of village council on non-party basis. “We have submitted writ petition in Peshawar High Court and soon the case will be decided,” he remarked.
Main Iftikhar criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for what he believed was wrong demarcation of the village and neighborhood councils. He questioned the criteria for declaring neighborhood and village councils.
